Lufkin Federal Credit Union is a full service not for profit cooperative financial institution formed in 1964.  The original name of the Credit Union was LFM Federal Credit Union formed to serve employees of Lufkin Industries, Inc., and their family members.  The Credit Union was formed for the purpose of encouraging savings by offering a good rate of return, using collective moneys to make loans at competitive, low rates, and providing other useful financial services.  In August 1999 the credit unions charter converted from a single common bond to a multiple common bond.  During the next few years, the following groups were added to the field of membership:

Employee and family members of:

1.      Truss & Son Plumbing

2.      Drago Supply Co.

3.      Texas Metal Casting

4.      Moseley Enterprises

5.      Employees of the Texas Army National Guard, Brty C and A who work in Lufkin or Nacogdoches, TX.

6.      Employees and members of Denman Avenue Baptist Church in Lufkin, TX.

7.      Employees of International Paper Company who work in Camden, TX.

8.      Employees of Moye’s Catering

9.      Employees of Smurfit-Stone

Then in November 2001 the Credit Union was approved to take in an area, which was designated by the 1990 census as being underserved.  Persons, who live, work, worship, or attend school in and businesses and other legal entities located in a certain geographical area are eligible for membership in Lufkin Federal Credit Union.  If unsure about eligibility, call our office and we will check our map.
